Congratulations to Hannah Callaway (left), Alvin, Texas, for winning the February 2008 San Antonio Junior Heifer Show and $10,000 scholarship with one of our Hulk daughters. Congratulations also to Krista Oliver (right), Alvin, for winning Reserve Grand Champion at San Antonio with a General Lee daughter from us. Thanks to Darrell Denison for helping get these heifers in the hands of such capable Brazoria County youth. This marks the fourth year in the last six that our heifers have topped the prestigious San Antonio heifer show.

Although we aren't much into breeding show cattle, we are not opposed to showing good breeding cattle. Several good heifers we bred have met success in the show ring. We appreciate the exposure the junior heifer programs provide for the Braford breed and our cattle. Ask around the Texas junior shows; several of the top 2006-2008 calved heifers were purchased from us.  We sold several good heifers in our Internet Heifer Sale in May 2008.  We don't plan to sell any more 2008 show prospects. We expect to hold another internet heifer sale in 2009.

Most of our cows calve in December and January with a few in February and March. Next calving season we will start calving December 1 (2008). We are planning a second internet auction in May of 2009 for our top heifers. We want to be fair to everyone who wants a chance to select our heifers -- not just show prospects but herd-building donor prospects too. To insure buyer confidence that they are buying our best in our Internet Heifer Sale, we won't sell individual heifer calves outside of our sale. We reserve the option of consigning a yearling or bred heifer to a breed sanctioned public sale. We expect to sell a limited number (sold as a single group only) of later-calved replacement heifers each year so let us know if you'd be interested in buying these in 2009 or later.

Maternal Performance
The focus in our breeding program is maternal performance.  We want our heifers to breed to calve as true 2-yr-olds.  We expect all our cows to raise good calves that contribute to our herd or someone else's.  Building and enhancing a herd of sound, productive, functional and long-lasting cows drives our selection.
We are active members of United Braford Breeders.

After being named Reserve Grand Champion at the January 2005 Ft. Worth Stock Show, this TOTAL daughter earned the honor of becoming the first Braford Show Female of the Year.  This award is based on points earned in the four primary Braford open shows: Houston, Tyler, Shreveport and Ft. Worth. Special thanks go to Stanton Ranch of Alvin, Texas who bought this heifer in the 2005 International Braford Sale (Houston). The Stantons had their selection validated as this heifer was named Grand Champion at the 2006 Fort Worth Stock Show as a heavy-bred 2-yr-old. Thank you and congratulations to Stanton Ranch for a job well done..

2004 BRAFORD SHOW FEMALE OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Tobie Martin, New Diana FFA, for winning Houston Junior Show Grand Champion with TR LR DISTINCTIVE 525. This Thunderstorm R heifer was also calf champion in San Antonio and in the National Braford show in Houston.
Congraulations to Mason Koster of Alvin, Texas who won Grand Champion Braford Female at the All American National Junior Braford Show in Covington, Louisiana on June 17, 2006. Mason did a great job feeding and presenting this heifer he purchased out of our program in the 2006 International Braford Sale in Houston.  Six 2005 show heifer prospects had been selected before we brought this heifer up and put a halter on her. They don't have to be the first pick to be good.

Congratulations to Tobie Martin of New Diana FFA for making TR 438 JO DEE 605P the Grand Champion Braford Heifer in the prestigious 2007 San Antonio Livestock Show junior beef heifer show (February 10, 2007).  For winning in this largest of junior heifer shows in the world, Tobie receives a $10,000 scholarship.  Tobie and his family did a great job with a very good heifer marking the third time in the last five years that one of our heifers has won the scholarship in San Antonio. Photo from 2007 Ft. Worth Show where this heifer was Grand Champion in the open Braford show.  Additional Note: Tobie and this TR heifer also won the (Houston-March) '07 National Braford Show Grand Champion Female Trophy to continue their winning ways.

2008 Internet Heifer Sale
Thank you to all who helped make our May 18, 2008 Internet Heifer Sale such an overwhelming success. The demand for Braford heifer calves was amazing as we sold 9 heifer calves for an average of $3,756. Three heifers that did not get a bid during the auction were sold immediately after the sale at the sale starting prices. The internet auction format worked so well that we are already planning to do it again next year in May. We are completely sold out of heifer calves for this year but if you need some good Braford heifers (one or several), let us know and we'll be happy to help you find them.
Congratulations to Tobie Martin and family for making TR 438 JO DEE 605P the 2007 Braford Show Female of the Year. This Thunderstorm R bred heifer won more competitive shows than we can list here but winning the All American, the National Show and San Antonio are significant highliights. She probably got her picture taken a hundred times but this 2007 Fort Worth Championship photo is our favorite becuase it was her first major win and she was only a few days past her first birthday.

Our annual bull sale is scheduled for March 21, 2009. In addition to top Gooseneck sons like this polled, clean, strong maternal calf, we'll have some great Hulk sons plus outstanding sons of General Lee and our new herdsire Legacy. All bulls will sell with full performance information including traditional weights, EPDs, carcass EPDs, ultrasound results, scrotal circumference, frame score and semen tests. Check back for details and  photos.
Congratulations to Hannah Callaway and her family from Alvin, Texas for showing WB HK FAITH 701P to grand champion Braford female honors in the June 28 All American National Junior Braford Show in Lake Charles, Louisiana. An outstanding job of feeding and fitting this polled December '06 daughter of TR MV HULK 152P has allowed this heifer to win numerous shows including the 2008 San Antonio Junior Livestock Show. A full sister was one of the top sellers in our 2008 Internet Heifer Sale. This is the third consecutive year that the All American champion female has come from our breeding program. "Faith" also won the Texas Junior State Show for Hannah on July 26.

This polled January son of outcross herdsire TR TRI GOOSENECK 413 is especially long and clean made. He's out of the same Texas Ranger daughter that produced the Running M herdsire WB TO 438 -- a herd bull that produced the 2007 Show Female of the Year.  816 is a true performance bull with an actual birth weight of 86 pounds and exceptional maternal EPDs.  Yearling weight at +27 with Milk of +8 and TM of 17 all put this herdsire prospect in the top 5% of the breed.  These will be the last of our Gooseneck sons to sell so don't miss this opportunity.  This bull is one of several that will merit your consideration in our March 21, 2009 sale of performance selected Braford bulls.
